Whether you’re prescribing one medication or several, clients need clear guidance to get it right. The Plumb’s drug handouts you access through Standards of Care™ make it easier to share essential details with pet owners so they feel confident managing their pet’s care at home.
To better support those conversations, we’ve redesigned our existing Plumb’s drug handouts and added new features to improve understanding, reduce language barriers, and help clients follow through with care.
New in Plumb’s Drug Handouts
Read on to discover the updates we've rolled out to Plumb's drug handouts, which you can access through Standards of Care™.
A Cleaner, Easier-to-Read Format
Drug handouts have been redesigned with a simplified layout and more concise content, making key information easier to read and absorb. You’ll still find the trusted drug information you expect—now in a more accessible format that reduces overload and improves clarity.
Spanish Translations
More than 100 of our most commonly used drug handouts are now available in Spanish to support communication with Spanish-speaking clients. When a translated version is available, you can choose it when emailing, printing, or downloading.
Drug Administration Handouts
Need to explain how to give insulin, ear drops, or eye ointment? Our new drug administration handouts provide step-by-step instructions for common at-home treatments. They’re designed to pair with drug handouts to improve understanding and reduce medication errors.
Where to Find Them
You can access drug handouts and drug administration handouts with the site-wide search. Or simply select Drug Handouts from the content menu to browse the alphabetical list.
💡 Pro Tip: You’ll find drug administration handouts under H. You can also just search “How to.”
In search results, look for the Handout label to help you differentiate from drug monographs.
If a handout has been translated, you’ll see Available in Spanish on the search result.
How to Choose and Share Handouts
Use the search bar or navigation menu to find the handout(s) you need.
Click Select next to each handout you want to share.
Go to Selected Handouts in the Tools menu.
Click Email, Print, or Download.
Choose your handout language: English, Spanish, or Both.
If a Spanish version isn’t available for one of the handouts you’ve selected, it will be sent in English.
Quick Tips
Use the Handouts filter above the search results to quickly narrow your results.
You can share multiple handouts at once—for example, a drug handout and a drug administration handout for the same medication.
💡 Pro Tip: Don’t forget about the Standards™ clinical handouts! These will help clients understand their pet’s disease or condition and can be bundled with Plumb’s drug handouts.
Add custom notes or instructions before printing or downloading.
Emails are sent directly from Standards™, so your personal or clinic email address stays private.
Use the BCC field to send a copy to yourself for record-keeping.
